日本の政治のきほん

日本の政治には、国、都道府県、市町村の３つのレベルがあります。国は国全体のこと、例えば外交や防衛を決めます。都道府県や市町村は、わたしたちが住む地域の学校や道路、ごみ処理など、身近なサービスを担当します。それぞれが役割分担をしてみんなの生活を支えています。

わたしたちの町の政治：地方自治

わたしたちが住む町の政治を「地方自治」と言います。これは、地域のことを地域の人たちが自分たちで決めるという考え方です。例えば、新しい公園を作るか、図書館の時間を長くするかなどを決めます。町のリーダーである「首長（しゅちょう）」と、市民の代表である「地方議会（ちほうぎかい）」が中心となって、町のルールやサービスを話し合って決めています。私たちの生活に直接関係する大切な仕組みです。

政治に参加しよう：市民ができること

政治は政治家だけのものではありません。わたしたち市民も、いろいろな方法で参加することができます。自分の意見を政治に届けることで、町をより良くすることができます。一番身近な方法は選挙ですが、ほかにもたくさんの方法があります。
